IISER Admission 2011 Applications have been invited from highly motivated students for admission to the Ph.D. programme beginning in August 2011 at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Thiruvananthapuram.


Eligibility criteria: (i) Biological Sciences:


Candidates must satisfy any one of the following criterions: 1. Masters degree in Biological/Chemical/Physical/Mathematical/ Allied Medical Sciences or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Medicine. 60% marks or equivalent is desirable.


2. Qualifying in one of the following national level tests with validity as on 1st of August 2011: CSIR-UGC-JRF/DBT-JRF/GATE/ICMR JRF. The second requirement (qualifying in a national test) is waived for applicants interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution.


(ii) Chemical Sciences:


Masters degree in Chemistry with 60% marks or equivalent is desirable. Candidates should qualify CSIR-UGC-JRF/GATE with validity as on 1st of August 2011.


(iii) Physical Sciences:


Masters degree in Physical Sciences, Engineering or Technology in areas closely related to the interests of the physics faculty at IISER TVM. 60% marks or equivalent is desirable. Qualifying in one of the following national level tests with validity as on 1st of August 2011: GATE/CSIR-UGC-JRF. Applicants with M. Tech need a GATE score valid as of 1st August 2010.


(iv) Mathematical Sciences:Candidates must satisfy any one of the following criterion: 1. Master’s degree in Mathematics / Statistics / in a relevant area of science with desired CPI of 6.5 (or 60% of marks) and a valid CSIR-UGC-JRF/NBHM/GATE as on 1st August 2011.


2. Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology in a relevant area with desired CPI of 6.5 (or 60% of marks) with valid GATE score as on 1st August 2010.


3. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology in a relevant area with a desired CPI of 7.0 (or 65% of marks), an appearance in the Indian National Math Olympiad (INMO) in class XI or XII, and a valid CSIR-UGC-JRF/NBHM/GATE as on 1st August 2011.

The admit cards for for KEAM 2011 are to be available online. The State Government has issued the orders in this regard, amending the concerned clause in the prospectus of KEAM-2011, according to the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations. With this facility introduced, candidates can secure their admit cards online as is being done in the case of several other entrances across the country.
According to the amendment to Clause 9.6.2. relating to admit cards:


(a) The eligible candidates can download their admit card for the Entrance Examinations from the official websited of the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations. The candidates will have to enter their Application number and Date of Birth provided in the application form in order to download the admit card. They will have to take a printout of the admit card. Admit cards will not be sent by post from the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations. Help Desks and Facilitation Centres will be functioning across the state from where candidates can download and take printouts of admit card free of cost. The venue of the examination and time table will be noted in the admit card.
(b) Rejection memo will be sent to candidates whose application has been rejected.
(c) All candidates whose application has been accepted should download their admit card well in advance. However there will be provision for those candidates who are unable to take a printout of the admit card to get an identification certificate through the concerned Liaison Officer present at the places noted in the prospectus, between 9 am and 1 pm on 17.04.2011.
(d) The candidate himself/herself should meet the Liaison Officer with (i) his/her photograph attested on a plain paper by a Gazetted officer / the Head of the Institution where the candidate is studying or has studied and (ii) an identical photograph which has to be affixed in the Identification Certificate. Duplicate admit cards or Identification Certificates will not be issued to the candidates from the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, directly.

Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE)


Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has invited applications for the ‘Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE)’, a component of the ‘Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)’ being implemented by the Department.
Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) is a Programme launched by the Government of India and being implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), to strengthen the National Science and Technology base. The INSPIRE Programme includes three components namely Scheme for Early Attraction of Talents for Science (SEATS), Scholarships for Higher Education (SHE) and Assured Opportunity for Research Careers (AORC).
The Scheme SHE is focused on attraction of talent to study of Natural/Basic Sciences at the Bachelor and Master’s level. SHE is currently limited to support for educational programmes at B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc. and Integrated Master’s level courses in Sciences, leading to MSc in any branch of Natural and Basic Sciences namely Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Earth Sciences and Life Sciences.
A total of 10,000 scholarships are available annually under SHE starting April 2008. The scholarships are limited to those studying courses in Natural/Basic Sciences (B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons), Integrated M.Sc.) in any one of the recognized institutions in India. Eligibility criterion for the scholarships are (i) performance in Board examinations within the cut-off threshold (of top 1%) for each State or Central Board examination at the class X and class XII level and/or (ii) performance in any of the specified competitive examinations within stipulated cut off ranks. The eligible applicant must be already enrolled into Degree level education in Natural/Basic Sciences in any of the recognized institutions in India.
(i) Based on Performance in Board Examinations: Applicant should have obtained aggregate marks in the top 1% in the Board Examination at both class X and XII levels. For example, those applying for INSPIRE Scholarship 2008 should have secured marks within the top 1% in Class X in 2006 and Class XII in 2008 in the respective Board Examinations and should have joined a Degree course leading to B.Sc. or B.Sc. (Hons) or Integrated M.Sc. in Natural/Basic Sciences in any institution in India in the year 2008 and returned to study of second year in the academic year 2009-10. Cut-off marks for various board examinations conducted in the years 2006, 2007 and 2008 for class X and corresponding year of 2008, 2009 and 2010 for class XII are listed in Table 1. Candidate securing top 1% marks only in Class XII Board Examination can also submit the application form.
(ii) Based on Performance in Competitive Examinations (specified in Table 2): Performance within the top 10,000 ranks in Joint Entrance Examination of IIT, AIEEE (Engineering) and CBSE Medical and joining Degree level courses in Natural/Basic Sciences in any recognized Indian institution. The candidate may apply with a valid document of these examinations. The scheme in its current format does not include courses in Engineering, Medicine, Technology and other Professional courses.
(iii) Based on Performance in Competitive Examinations (specified in Table 3): Clearance of competitive examinations conducted by institutions listed in Table 3 and all candidates securing admissions and joining Integrated M.Sc/ MS courses in Natural/Basic Sciences conducted by Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER), National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Indian Institutes of Technology, Department of Atomic Energy – Centre for Basic Science (DAE-CBS) and University from the academic years 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 are eligible. Institutional coverage is being done for this category. Students in this category need not apply.
Value and Type of Support: Eligible candidates will receive annually scholarship @ total value Rs.80,000/- per candidate. The cash value payable to the SHE scholarship holder is Rs.60,000 per annum. All the SHE scholars are to undertake summer time attachment to an active researcher in recognized research centers in the country. A summer time attachment fee of Rs.20,000/- will be paid to the mentoring institution for undertaking summer time project.
Duration of the Support: Selected candidates will be supported for a maximum period of five years starting from 1st year course in B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons) and Integrated course leading to M.S or M.Sc or the completion of the course, whichever is earlier. Continuation of the scholarship for the selected candidates for subsequent years is based on satisfactory performance of the examinations conducted and certified by the institution imparting education.
Format for Application: Application may be submitted in the prescribed format available at www. inspire-dst.gov.in, written preferably in English & Hindi only along with attested copy of (i) Mark sheets of Class X and Class XII and (ii) Endorsement Certificate from Principal of the College/ Director or Registrar of the Institute or University where the applicant is presently enrolled.

Amrita Visha Vidyapeetham has notified the Amrita Entrance Examination-Engineering (AEEE) for admission to the 4 year B.Tech Degree programmes offered in the 3 campuses of Amrita Viswa Vidyapeeth, at Amritapuri (Kollam), Bengaluru and Ettimadai (Coimbatore).

Those who are appearing for the above examinations in March/April 2011 and expect to secure minimum marks as above may also apply.

Submission of Filled in Applications:

Examination:

AEEE will be of 3 hours duration from 10 am to 1 pm. There will a single question paper containing 120 objective type questions in the form of a Question Booklet in English, with 60 questions from Mathematics and 30 each from Physics and Chemistry. Each question will be followed by four answers of which only one is correct / most appropriate. Candidates will have to select the correct or most appropriate answer, and shade the corresponding bubble in the OMR Answer Sheet supplied, using HB pencil or blue / black ball point pen. Each question correctly answered will fetch three marks. One mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Result and Counselling:

Rank list will be published in the University website within four weeks from the date of examination. Counselling for admission will be in May/June 2011. Counselling call letter will be sent to the eligible candidates after the publication of the rank list of the Amrita Entrance Examination. The counselling schedule will be available in the university website. Counselling will be arranged simultaneously in the three campuses using satellite connectivity. Candidate can appear for counselling in any one of the three campuses and opt a branch in any campus according to his / her preference and availability of seat. But candidates who have studied and passed +2 examination in Karnataka state are advised to attend the counselling at the Bengaluru campus. A certain percentage of seats in each campus will be earmarked for the candidates from the State in which the campus is situated.

The 3-year full time B.Sc. (Hons) in Mathematics and Computing is aimed at those who wish to pursue a career in cutting-edge research in Mathematical Sciences and related fields. Besides a research career in Mathematics, there are varieties of other career options for the pass outs both in academics as well as in corporate houses. A scholarship of Rs 2500/- per month would be available to some meritorious students. Applicant must have passed/appeared Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent from any stream with Mathematics as a subject.
A maximum of 30 students will be admitted to the programme. The Course fee is Rs.10,000/- per year. The two year full-time M.A/M.Sc in Computational Finance, the first of its kind in India is aimed at providing students with the practical skills and theoretical understanding and evaluations of the tools and models used by the ever changing and increasingly complex financial service sectors.

Arch) course of 10 semester duration, applicant should have passed the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination of Aligarh Muslim University or an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or should hold Diploma in Engineering of Aligarh Muslim University with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Selection will be through Admission Test, which will have two papers of equal weightage.

Each correct answer will get one mark. There is no negative marking.

Applicant should complete 17 years of age on or before the 31st December 2011. Academic Eligibility for MBBS will be as prescribed by the Medical Council of India and that for BDS, will be as prescribed by the Dental Council of India. Those seeking admission to MBBS course, should have scored minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in the qualifying examination (XIIth /PUC II/ 10+2/ HSC /equivalent examination). Applicant should also have scored 50% marks in English language in the qualifying exam. Those who are likely to appear or who have appeared for qualifying examination (PUC II/10+2/HSC or equivalent), but whose results have not been declared can also appear for KLEU-AIET-2011, provided they have offered the above mentioned subjects at the said examination. Those who have passed the qualifying examination (XIIth /PUCII/10+2/HSC/ B.Sc Degree/First year of 3 year Degree course as specified by Medical Council of India to be considered as eligibility for appearing in entrance test) earlier than 2009, are not eligible for applying to KLEU-AIET-2011, for seeking admission to MBBS course.

COMEDK will conduct a separate entrance test for Medical/Dental and Engineering Under-Graduate courses called ‘COMEDK UGET-2011′, for candidates seeking admission to Under Graduate courses in MBBS, BDS and B.E The entrance test is being conducted for merit determination for use by COMEDK Member Institutions only.
The COMEDK entrance test is mandatory for candidates seeking admissions for the Under-Graduate courses in COMEDK Member Institutions. The COMEDK UGET-2011 test scores are valid only for admissions during the academic year 2011-2012.
Date - Subject - Timings

9-05- 2011 - Physics and Chemistry - 10.00 am to 12.00 noon

- Mathematics - 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm

- Biology - 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm
Admissions are open to all the students across the country. Candidates applying from outside the State of Karnataka are not eligible to get the benefit of lower eligibility qualifying marks.
He/she shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the MBBS/BDS Courses.
You can apply to any/all of Medical/Dental and Engineering courses in a single form. You can indicate your preferences for each of them in the same application form. You have to provide demand draft for Rs.700 in case of you taking only MBBS/BDS (PCB) or BE (PCM). In case you are taking all the four subjects MBBS/BDS and BE (PCMB) you have to send a demand draft for Rs 900.

1. Demand Draft drawn in favour of “COMEDK” payable at Bangalore (mention your application number and applicant name on the back of Demand Draft).

Admission Procedure
Admission to PG programmes will be on the basis of the performance at the Post-Graduate And PhD Entrance Examination (PGEE 2011) and an interview to be held at Hyderabad.

About Post-Graduate Entrance Examination (PGEE 2011):
An all-India examination to test the preparedness of the applicants will be held on 17 April, 2011. The examination will be held at Hyderabad and a number of major cities in the country depending on the number of applicants from each region. The entrance examination will consist of two papers. Paper I test the general aptitude of the candidate and will consist of objective questions from Mathematics, Programming, and Logical Reasoning. Paper II is the Subject Paper, which tests the candidate's subject knowledge.
How To Apply ?
All applications should be submitted online in PGEE portal To submit the application, a candidate has to complete two registration forms: Pre-Registration Form and Main Registration Form.
Filling of Pre-Registration Form.(Click here) -->
Filling of Pre-Registration Form. After filling the Pre-Registration form, the candidate receives an E-Mail which contains the link and identification code. The link should be opened in a browser by supplying the identification code to fill in the Main Registration Form.
Filling of Main Registration Form. The main registration form can only be filled by opening the link received through the E-Mail, after filling in the preceeding pre-registration form.
Important Notes :
Note that the Registration WILL NOT be considered until the candidate completes the Main Registration Form. After filling in the Main Registration Form, the candidate gets an Acknowledgement E-Mail, which confirms that the registration is complete.
The purpose of Pre-Pregistration Form is to Confirm the E-Mail address. So it is very important to give a valid E-Mail ID as it will be used for later communication.
Note that the candidate can also update the information such as program details and center till their application has been finalized, by following the same link which has been received after filling in pre-registration form.
Everytime you update or modify your information you will get an Updated Acknowledge Mail.
Most important, please check the acknowledgement E-Mails in your "Bulk" or "Junk" folders, because sometimes the mails may go there.
Application will be considered valid only after the Pre-Registration and Main-Registration form is completed, and the application fee is received by IIIT-H.
About Application Fees:
Applicants can apply for one or more programmes in the same form by indicating choices.
The application fee is Rs. 1000/- for one programme and Rs. 50/- extra for each additional programme applied for.
Application fee can be paid either through Credit Card or through Demand Draft.
Credit Card - While filling-in the Main Registration form, the candidate can opt for Credit Card option follow the subsequent instruction.
Demand Draft- While filling-in the Main Registration form, the candidate can opt for Demand Draft option. After submitting the Main Registration form.Demand Draft in favor of IIIT, Hyderabad for appropriate amount should be drawn.A candidate must write application number (received in the confirmation mail) along with the name on the reverse side of the demand draft and send the same to the Chairman, PG Admissions, IIIT, Gachibowli, Hyderabad-500032, Andhra Pradesh.
